Portugal to launch first offshore wind auction, eyes 10 GW by 2030
LISBON, Jan 23 (Reuters) – Portugal expects to launch its first offshore wind power auction by the last quarter of this year, aiming to reach 10 gigawatts (GW) of installed capacity by 2030, Prime Minister Antonio Costa said on Monday.
As a pre-condition to the auction, the government will this week launch a public hearing regarding proposals for the delimitation of areas to allow the deployment of wind farms off the country’s Atlantic coast, he said during a state visit to Cape Verde.
