TWIND is a European Commission Horizon 2020 funded project with a total budget of 796 thousand Euros. Its main objective is to create a network of excellence that will dynamize a pool of specialized research professionals and trainees in the domain of offshore wind energy to support an emerging industry in Portugal in a field with a very strong anticipated growth and no dedicated existing training curriculum.

Financing and investment trends 2020

In 2020 despite the COVID 19 pandemic there was over €80bn of financing activity in the wind energy sector in Europe, including €43bn for the construction of new wind farms. The remaining €37bn included refinancing transactions, mergers and acquisitions at project and corporate level and additional fundraising in capital markets. Read the WindEurope news here.

TWIND project is coordinated by WavEC and gathers three other internationally recognized research entities: Tecnalia Research & Innovation (Spain), Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (United Kingdom) and Delft University of Technology (the Netherlands).
